5 Things To Do In Kuantan, Pahang

There are so many places to visit, food to eat, activities to do in Kuantan. Here are top 5.

1. Visit Beaches

There are a few nice and beautiful beaches in Kuantan. 

Teluk Cempedak or just TC, as the locals will call it, is a must to visit. The beach is only less than 10 minutes drive away from the town (5km).  The white sandy beach attracts visitors from all over the world. 

Cherating beach is another very popular beach among tourists and locals. It's located 45km north of Kuantan. The famous Club Med resort is on this beach. 

Another beach that you may want to go to is Pantai Batu Hitam (literally means Black Stone Beach). This beach is not as popular as Teluk Cempedak or Cherating, but it's worth a visit for its unique grey to bluish black stones of various shapes and sizes. 

2 Shop for Dried Seafood

Salted fish, dried oysters, anchovies, scallops, and many other dried seafood is a must-buy when you visit Kuantan. 

There are few shops selling dried seafood here. Avoid those located in the town area. They are more expensive than the one located slightly further from town. 

My favourite is Sin Kee Hung. It's the biggest, freshest and cheapest place to shop. 

3 Curry Noodle for Breakfast

The must eat food when you are in Kuantan is curry noodle. Restaurant Hoi Yin located at Teluk Cempedak is famous with the tourists. But you will see more locals having their breakfast at Teng Haw Kedai Kopi located at Jalan Teluk Sisek. Both places is always full of customers. Be prepared to wait for your ready. 

4 Visit Sg Lembing Tin Mines

Sg Lembing tin mines is known to be the longest and deepest underground mine in the world. It operated for about 100 years starting from 1886. The mine is located under tropical rainforest, giving visitors unique cool climate in the tunnels. 

5 Visit Bukit Gambang WaterPark

The only water park in east coast of Malaysia, Gambang water park offers non stop excitement and fun. There are wave pool (largest in Malaysia), river raft rides and slides for both adults and kids.

Pantai Batu Hitam

Pantai Batu Hitam or Black Stone Beach is located 5km north of Kuantan town. The beach gets its name from a unique feature along its landscape - large beds of rocks, varying in shades from grey to bluish black, carpet parts of the sandy shoreline

The beach is surrounded by Malay villages and most of the visitors who enjoy the quiet and peaceful environment are locals. But do not miss this beach when you are visiting Kuantan.

Teluk Cempedak, Kuantan

Teluk Cempedak or Teluk Chempedak more popularly known as TC by the locals (literally : Cempedak Bay) is a famous beach in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia. Teluk Cempedak is located 5 kilometres east from the town centre in Kuantan and is situated in close proximity to the Royal Pahang Golf Club. The white sandy beach and the beautiful casuarinas and pine trees line the coast, with some rocky promontories facing the incessant waves of the South China Sea. All these combined to make the beach serene and at the same time delightful. You can see the boats of the fishermen at sea during the day, and the twinkling lights of their boats at night.

Engage yourself in water sports at Telok Chempedak. This beach is one of Kuantan's main sightseeing attractions for tourists and locals alike due to its suitability for water sport activities such as swimming, surfing, sun-bathing, sailing, and jet skiing. Or, take a stroll on the wooden walkway at Teluk Pelindung nearby, and watch the waves breaking on the rocks of the promontory. Go for a jungle trek there and observe the diversity of trees lining the forest and watch out for the assorted varieties of birds, insects, squirrels and monkeys there. The restaurants and food-stalls catering local and western dishes are just nearby, all fronting the white sandy beach. So you can feel the sea breeze while you take your meal. Even a McDonald drive-through 24 hours outlet is there together with KFC and newly opened Burger King outlet, to cater to those with foreign taste. Teluk Chempedak is Kuantan's most popular beach and the crowds, especially during the week-ends attest to this.

It’s a beach life at Teluk Cempedak Beach, located only five kilometres from Kuantan town. Go for a swim, take to the sails, surf the waves or just while away the hours on the promenade with a purpose-built local food court, an international fast food outlet and a 5-star resort hotel in the vicinity. Teluk Cempedak is a complete beach getaway that can get rather busy on weekends. If you like company, then this place is for you!
Teluk Cempedak beach consist of 3 beaches. Main beach (TC1) is much more happening with many local stalls and food stalls. Take a breeze walk across the rocky shore bridge to TC2, you could spend some reading and sun bathing time on the big rocks overlooking the blue sea. If that’s not enough, TC3 is a hike away from TC2, into the rainforest and find yourself submerge in the tranquil beach.
